Sharp and companies working for the electronic giant will invest over PLN 1 billion (EUR 246m) in Pomorska special economic zone.

The zone will change dramatically because of the investment of Japanese Sharp. The company will build in Lysomice, near Torun, north-central Poland, a plant producing LCD panels worth PLN 600m. Its subcontractor Orion Electric, who is going to assemble TV sets, will invest PLN 101m and employ 1,700 people. The same scope of operations is planned by Jabil. The U.S. company is already present in Bydgoszcz nearby Torun, and Kwidzyn, northern Poland.

“We are negotiating but I cannot give detailed information as yet”, Andrzej Golyga, Jabil Circuit Poland CEO said.

According to government project, the company is to invest PLN 51m and create 500 new jobs in its Kwidzyn plant. The other subcontractors of Sharp are supposed to invest PLN 300m and create 3,500 new jobs.
