Torun Region Tourist Attractions
|
Torun is situated in the very centre of Kuiavia-Pomerania voivodeship (administrative region) and on the border of three historically and geographically different regions: Kuiavia (Kujawy) in the south, the Chelmno Land (Ziemia Chelminska) in the north and the Dobrzyn Land (Ziemia Dobrzynska) in the east. It makes the city very attractive place as a tourist centre and an excellent start point to explore neighbouring attractions. Places worth seeing:
- Biskupin – famous archaeological reservation of the Lusatian Culture,
- Chelmno – charming medieval town full of Gothic monuments, beautifully situated on the Vistula escarpment,
- Ciechocinek – one of the most famous Polish spas,
- Golub-Dobrzyn – an impressive castle where international knights' tournaments are organized,
- Grudziadz – magnificent Old Town on the Vistula escarpment,
- Inowroclaw – a historic town and a spa,
- Kruszwica – one of the oldest Polish towns with Roman collegiate church and the legendary Mouse Tower,
- Radzyn Chelminski and other Teutonic Order castles in the Chelmno Land,
- Strzelno – medieval town with Roman monuments.

Beside its historic heritage, Kuiavia-Pomerania region is famous for magnificent nature and breathtaking landscapes. Such places as Brodnica Lake District (Pojezierze Brodnickie), Koronowo Lake (Zalew Koronowski) or Tuchola Forests (Bory Tucholskie) attract more and more guests, especially water sports enthusiasts, for whom excellent tourist infrastructure is waiting.
